Humanitarian Initiative in Riyadh: The Schoolbag Project

Riyadh, Saudi Arabia — A heartwarming effort is under way this year as the Charitable Society for Orphan Care, Ensan, rolls out its annual Schoolbag Project. The initiative aims to support 16,007 students across 22 schools in the Riyadh governorate. With a total budget exceeding SR 3.2 million (approximately US $853,000), each student will receive SR 200 to cover a schoolbag and essential stationery.

What Makes This Project Special?

Direct Support, No Guesswork
Instead of distributing items directly, Ensan transfers the SR 200 allowance into the bank accounts of parents or guardians. This gives families the freedom to buy what their children genuinely need, tailoring the support to their unique circumstances.

Part of a Broader Educational Care Program
The Schoolbag Project isn’t a stand-alone effort. It’s one of Ensan’s key seasonal initiatives under its broader educational care program. This includes academic follow-up and tutoring for students who need extra help, transportation services to ensure consistent school attendance, and scholarships or placements at universities, colleges, and vocational institutes that align with labor market needs.

Community Call to Action
Ensan invites the public to contribute through donations via its branches, official bank accounts, or its online platform. These contributions help ensure the program continues supporting thousands of students each year.

The Deeper Impact

Beyond the tangible items, this project champions the dignity and agency of families. Allowing guardians to choose supplies fosters trust and reinforces the value of informed community support. Additionally, by embedding this effort within a broader suite of services, from tutoring to scholarships, Ensan helps break educational barriers and nurtures long-term academic success.
