Arab Cup 2025 Coming to Doha: Qatar to Host December Showcase

Doha, Qatar. The Arab world’s biggest football festival, the FIFA Arab Cup 2025, will be staged in Qatar from 1 to 18 December. The opening match will take place at the majestic Al Bayt Stadium in Al Khor.

Qatar will host this edition for the second consecutive time under FIFA supervision. As part of its growing reputation as a sports hub, the country will also host the FIFA U‑17 World Cup 2025 just before the Arab Cup from 3 to 27 November.

What is New This Time Around?

Venues and Format

Six stadiums will host Arab Cup matches, all of them previously used during the 2022 FIFA World Cup. The grand Lusail Stadium will host the final on 18 December.

Al Bayt Stadium will host the opening match.

The tournament will feature 16 teams. Nine of the highest ranked Arab sides earned automatic qualification, while the remaining slots will be filled through qualifiers held on 25 and 26 November.

Ticketing and Fan Access

Tickets go on sale from 30 September at 3 pm Doha time. Prices start as low as QAR 25 in some categories. Fans can purchase "Follow My Team" passes to attend all group matches of their favorite team. Accessible seating for differently abled fans will be available in all stadiums.

The opening match on 1 December at Al Bayt will pit hosts Qatar against the winner of the Palestine versus Libya qualifier. The final will begin at 7 pm at Lusail Stadium.

Stakes, Challenges and Expectations

This edition is more than just a football tournament. It is a stage for Qatar to strengthen its position as a global destination for sports, culture and hospitality. The reuse of world class stadia and transport infrastructure from 2022 helps the country manage logistics efficiently.

For the teams, it is a chance to claim regional bragging rights, test new talents and build momentum ahead of other continental competitions. The mix of qualifiers and automatic spots keeps competition intense until the last moment.

Challenges remain. Scheduling, climate, transport during peak days and fan security will all be closely monitored. Ensuring smooth experiences, from ticketing apps to stadium services, will be as important as what happens on the pitch.

What to Watch

  • Surprises from underdog teams emerging from qualifiers

  • How fans from across the Arab world converge in Qatar
