UAE Secures Hosting Rights for 2026 Asian Youth Archery Championship

The United Arab Emirates has been officially awarded the right to host the 2026 Asian Youth Archery Championship. The announcement was made at the Asian Archery Federation Congress in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The UAE’s bid, highlighting the city of Khorfakkan, received strong support from member nations.

Representing the UAE Archery Federation at the congress were President Hanadi Khalifa Al Kaboori, Vice President Humaid Al Shamsi and Secretary General Hind Al Hosani. The delegation emphasized the country’s readiness to host a major continental youth event, highlighting strong infrastructure, excellent organizational capacity and a growing sports culture.

This achievement marks another milestone in the UAE’s rising profile in regional and international sports. The bid was strengthened by Khorfakkan’s modern sports facilities, its efficient logistics, and solid support from national sports authorities. Hanadi Al Kaboori described the selection as a significant milestone reflecting continuous efforts to develop national teams, nurture emerging talent and prepare qualified technical and administrative staff.

For young archers across Asia, the UAE edition promises to provide high-level competition, cultural exchange, and inspiration. Hosting this championship will bring together promising athletes from multiple countries and give them a world-class platform, while encouraging young sports enthusiasts in the UAE to pursue archery.

The UAE’s archery program has recently gained momentum. At the second West Asia Archery Championship held in Qatar, the UAE national team won seven medals, including three gold, two silver and two bronze, finishing second overall. This strong regional performance aligns with the ambition to host and excel in major continental competitions.

For the local community and officials in Khorfakkan, the championship represents a chance to showcase the city on an international stage. The event is expected to boost tourism, youth involvement in sports and the UAE’s reputation as a destination for major sporting events.

Successful execution will require world-class venues, smooth logistics, safety measures, quality accommodation for athletes and officials, and an engaging experience for spectators. The UAE will work closely with the Asian federation to ensure the event meets the expectations of the archery community.

Preparations are expected to accelerate over the next year and a half. Key areas of focus include venue upgrades, volunteer training, coordination with international archery authorities, sponsorships, and broadcasting arrangements. Local young archers will also have the opportunity to witness elite competition first-hand, which may inspire the next generation of champions.

In summary, winning the bid to host the 2026 Asian Youth Archery Championship is a major achievement for the UAE. The country is poised to leverage strong infrastructure, national ambition, and growing sports success to deliver a memorable event in Khorfakkan and leave a lasting impact on Asian youth archery.
