Major Road Upgrades & Closures in Abu Dhabi: What Drivers Need to Know

Abu Dhabi is seeing major road upgrades and temporary closures as part of ongoing infrastructure improvement efforts. Key routes, including Sheikh Zayed Road (E10) and Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Road (E12), will experience lane closures and phased restrictions. Drivers are advised to plan ahead to avoid delays and ensure a smooth journey.

Sheikh Zayed Road (E10): Ramp Closure Near Al Raha

Starting Saturday, a ramp on Sheikh Zayed Road near Al Raha will be closed for maintenance work. The closure is part of scheduled infrastructure improvements designed to enhance road safety and traffic flow. Commuters using this route are encouraged to take alternative roads and allow extra travel time, especially during peak hours.

Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Road (E12): Phased Lane Closures

On Friday night, three left lanes on Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Road heading toward Dubai will be closed from 10:00 p.m. until the following afternoon at 4:00 p.m. Afterward, from 10:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. the next day, three right lanes will be closed. These temporary restrictions aim to facilitate important maintenance and upgrades while minimizing disruption to traffic as much as possible.

Abu Dhabi–Al Ain Road (E22): Partial Closure

Abu Dhabi–Al Ain Road will also undergo a partial closure over the weekend. The maintenance work will affect traffic flow, particularly during busy hours. Drivers are advised to consider secondary roads to reduce travel time and avoid congestion during the closure period.
